Winters Rain in Lahore

Lahore Water and Sewerage Board (LWSSB) urged the Lahore district chief minister to direct all divisional level officers of LWSSB to postpone by a week their administrative visits till December 30 for their homeland and Sialkot due to the massive snowfall in Siachen glacier in both the districts.

The Board said that they have decided to postpone the administrative visits by all the divisional level officers of LWSSB till the first week of January.

The LWSSB said that this decision of postponing the administrative visits was taken in the light of directives of the departmental directors concerned who are based in Sialkot, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Kasur, Bahawalnagar, Sheikhupura, Mianwali, Narowal, Sahiwal, Chiniot, Bahawalnagar, Latifabad, and Sahiwal districts.

However, more than a dozen officials of Lahore had been held in Sialkot and its adjoining areas on December 30 to inspect ongoing facilities. It is in this backdrop that the LWSSB had decided to re-assign the less than satisfactory work to these officials for the period between December 23 and December 30.

LWSSB officials said that these officials including superintendents of all the Divisional Parks, Horticulture and Aquatics Departments along with the quality auditor of L-WSSB were seen holding meetings with their officers in Mianwali to ensure complete completion of various projects.

The LWSSB said that the other officials of the District Municipal Corporation (DMC) included chief maintenance officer, chief assistant technical director, chief engineer, director PCM WSSB, chief revenue superintendent, superintendent parks, superintendent cleaning services, superintendent acophipboards, district chief engineer engineers, chief sanitary engineer, superintendent plant nursery, resident engineer, and superintendent plant nurseries.

The LWSSB will apply to the Lahore District administration for a grace period of 10 days on December 30 to finalise the lists of the less than satisfactory officials.

While the LWSSB officials are still not able to complete any of the projects, the decision by the Lahore district administrator to direct all the Divisional Secretaries to undertake revised clearance and extension of projects had come as a shock to the LWSSB.

Earlier, Lahore administrator said that a timely decision by the Director General (DG) WSSB should be sought to visit Sialkot.

The Lahore administrator told a news channel that the authorities concerned of LWSSB should also review the delay in start of PTV offices in Sialkot.
